Washington, D.C.
Peggy joined Macrae in 2024 as a Managing Director in Washington, D.C. She places high-performing law firm partners and senior government attorneys across practice areas into elite global law firms. Peggy also works with law firm clients to execute strategic searches.
Peggy takes a personal approach to her work. She works closely with her candidates to understand what they want and why they are looking to move. As a former attorney who has worked as a federal prosecutor, a partner in a white-collar boutique and a partner in a national law firm, she understands from personal experience that one size does not fit all. Peggy makes sure that her candidates put their best foot forward in their submission materials and their interviews. She knows that to be successful, a business plan must be more than just a wish list.
Prior to joining Macrae, Peggy practiced law for more than 20 years across the public and private sectors, gaining a keen understanding of the D.C. law firm landscape and an extensive professional network. Her transition to legal recruiting was a natural evolution: throughout her legal career, she enjoyed advising numerous junior and senior colleagues on their career moves, both between firms and from government service to private practice, and benefited herself from the guidance of experienced mentors and recruiters.
Peggy joined Macrae from Nossaman LLP, where she was a partner, and had previously practiced at several other law firms. Her practice focused on white collar criminal defense, administrative enforcement matters and campus disciplinary actions. Peggy’s public sector work included serving as an Assistant United States Attorney for the District of Columbia and as a Public Defender in the Criminal Defense Division at the Legal Aid Society in New York.
While in private practice, Peggy was an active member of the Women’s White Collar Defense Association. She is a member of the Edward Bennett Williams White Collar Inn of Court, an invitation-only group for white-collar criminal defense lawyers, and the John Carroll Society. She holds a J.D. from New York University School of Law and a B.A. in Urban Studies from the New School University. She is a member of the District of Columbia and New York State Bars and is admitted to practice in the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York and in the District of Maryland.
Peggy lives with her three children in Washington, D.C.
