Lauren places partners, groups and senior government attorneys across practice areas into top-tier national and international law firms. In the course of her career, hundreds of lawyers – including women and other diverse attorneys, who comprise more than half her practice – have relied on her expert insight to successfully navigate their careers. Lauren’s ability to match candidates with firms where they will thrive can be attributed not only to her years of experience in recruiting and career development, but also to her up-to-the-minute understanding of the developments and dynamics driving the local and global legal markets.

Before becoming a legal recruiter, Lauren had a 16-year tenure at international management consulting firm McKinsey & Co. In the course of her work, which included managing practice operations, knowledge development, client development and, ultimately, talent acquisition, she acquired vital business skills that greatly inform her work today with candidates and law firm clients at Macrae. So, too, does her experience as a lawyer; prior to joining McKinsey, Lauren practiced telecommunications law, representing clients in corporate transactions and in administrative matters before the Federal Communications Commission.

In 2023, Lauren appeared for the fourth time in Lawdragon’s annual guide to the “Global 100 Leaders in Legal Strategy & Consulting.” A longtime advocate for the advancement of women in the workplace, she founded and leads the D.C.-based Female Law Firm Leaders Roundtable and the New York-based Women’s Practice Group Leaders Roundtable, forums that bring together women in leadership positions at major law firms on a routine basis. She also serves as Co-Chair of the D.C. chapter of the Women In Law Empowerment Forum (WILEF) and on WILEF’s Global Advisory Board.

She is regularly sought out by journalists for her keen insight and has published numerous articles on timely trends and issues, including How to Navigate the Financial Minefields of a Lateral Partner Move (The American Lawyer), The Pandemic Changed How Lawyers Work, Women Partners Say (Bloomberg Law), How Women Can Use Networking To Leverage The Hot Lateral Market (Above the Law), and 4 Things to Consider When Mulling a Lateral Move (Women’s Bar Association of D.C.).

Lauren joined Macrae in 2019 from global legal recruiting firm Major, Lindsey & Africa, where she was a partner and the head of the Partners Leadership Forum, a group comprised of D.C. managing partners of leading law firms. She holds a J.D. from the College of William and Mary, where she was the regional Moot Court champion as well as a national finalist and the top orator, and a B.A. in English from the University of Virginia.
