Jane is the Managing Partner of the Washington, DC office of Macrae. One of Washington’s most insightful and experienced legal recruiters, Jane advises high-profile law firm partners and groups on lateral moves, and senior government attorneys transitioning to the private sector. She works with clients, primarily established law firms, on business-critical recruiting assignments such as succession planning in key practice areas.
Jane’s background, which combines the last decade as a high-end legal recruiter with 20 years’ experience as a practicing attorney and law firm talent developer, enables her to understand and address her clients’ needs in a rapidly growing and increasingly complex Washington, D.C. legal market.
Prior to joining Macrae, Jane was a legal recruiter with Major, Lindsey & Africa, based in Washington, D.C. Before that, she was a partner in the Global Technology Group at Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman, where she also held the position of Executive Partner for Talent Development. As testament to her contributions to the industry, for six years in a row (2016-2022), Jane was honored with inclusion in Lawdragon’s “100 Leading Legal Consultants and Strategists.”
Jane earned her undergraduate degree in mathematics at the College of the Holy Cross, a Diploma of Education at the University of Melbourne in Australia and an MSc in applied mathematics from Brown University. She is a 1984 graduate of Georgetown University Law Center and served as judicial clerk to the Honorable James M. Sprouse of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. Before entering the practice of law, Jane was a systems engineer at Bell Laboratories in Holmdel, NJ.
Jane is a member of the Board of Advisors of the College of the Holy Cross, a member of the Board of Visitors of Georgetown University Law Center, Parliamentarian of the John Carroll Society, and Washington, DC Founding Member and former Co-Chair of the Women in Law Empowerment Forum and former Member of its Global Advisory Board.
