Peggy Bennett Joins Macrae as Managing Director in Washington, D.C.

Macrae has expanded its presence in Washington, D.C. with the addition of Managing Director Peggy Bennett. Macrae’s D.C. office is now home to five recruiters, and an additional 15 work across the firm’s other markets in New York, the San Francisco Bay Area and London.

Peggy’s move to Macrae marks the start of her recruiting career following more than two decades practicing law across the public and private sectors. Her transition is a natural evolution: throughout her legal career, she enjoyed advising numerous junior and senior colleagues on their moves, both between firms and from government service to private practice, and benefited herself from the guidance of experienced mentors and recruiters. 

As Law360 reported today, Peggy “anticipates working on placements across practice areas. Given her background and contacts, though, she will have a special focus on white collar attorneys. ‘I'm very lucky in that having practiced white collar law so long in the district, I have great relationships with the white collar bar,’ she said. ‘I think it puts me in a really unique position to help people find the next place that's appropriate for them, and to help firms find the candidate’ who fits their needs.”

Peggy joined Macrae from the D.C. office of Nossaman LLP, where she was a partner focused on white collar criminal defense, administrative enforcement matters and campus disciplinary actions. Her public sector work included serving as an Assistant United States Attorney for the District of Columbia and as a Public Defender in the Criminal Defense Division at the Legal Aid Society in New York. She holds a J.D. from New York University School of Law.
