Carter works with all stakeholder groups within the company to prepare recommendations for the Board on the operations of the company as well as the vision, values, mission, strategy and policies that inform its unique culture.
Carter has spent his professional life in management roles in professional services companies. He was Co-founder and CEO of Omega Performance Corporation, an educational software company with offices throughout the United States, EMEA and Asia that became the largest global provider of risk analysis and sales training for the commercial banking industry.
Following Omega, Carter became the first CEO of Major, Lindsey & Africa. Working with a very talented group of founders, Carter merged the four independently owned and operated offices that comprised MLA into MLA Global, and then led the process of opening nine new U.S. offices and four international offices in London, Hong Kong, Beijing and Tokyo, creating the first global legal search firm.
Carter led the sale of Major, Lindsey & Africa to the Allegis Group, and moved on to try his hand at several shorter CEO assignments where his role was to lead a strategic refresh of the firms. These firms included Law Finance Group, Coblentz Patch Duffy & Bass LLP, and Richardson.
Carter earned his Bachelor’s degree in Renaissance Liberal Arts from Raymond College, University of the Pacific, his Master’s degree in Learning Theory from the University of the Pacific, and his MBA from the Harvard Business School. He serves on the board of the San Francisco Estuary Institute, a scientific research organization focused on improving the health of the waters, wetlands, wildlife and landscapes of San Francisco Bay, the California Delta and beyond.
